The Jumper, 2024, Matte Print, 8x10"
$20.00
Neshyba, Anna. The Jumper, 2024. Print.
Completed in February of 2024, this piece deals with creativity, suicidal ideation, feelings of belonging, and more. In the image, a human figure is diving through a watery portal into a magical, eclectic library with books, potions, plants, terrariums, scrolls, and all manner of magical objects. Through the water, the viewer can see the world from which the diver came: a busy cityscape, with towering skyscrapers, buses, and traffic lights, all distorted by the ripples in the water.
This was a complicated piece that took a lot of time! An 8x10" print was a little small, and I found that shrinking the piece to fit inside the poster made it feel very crowded and claustrophobic. To fix this issue, I have cropped off some of the top and bottom edges, and that improved the impression substantially. I wanted to offer this options for those who don't want to spend two much money, but I highly recommend the 11x14" print for the best viewing experience.
